This week we are celebrating our staff at Developing Workers. We are truly grateful for each person that God has called to be on our team. Each one has unique gifts and talents that help with our overall goal to care for ministry leaders here in Arizona and around the globe. Your support makes this possible!
Here’s a behind the scenes look at Nichole’s story and how she joined our team in December 2023.
NICHOLE’S STORY:
As I sat around my bible study table, my palms were sweating, my heart was pounding, and I struggled to hear what anyone else was saying. The loudest voice in my head was telling me, “You are a failure.” I couldn’t understand why I kept trying so hard when nothing seemed to work out. I felt lonely, lost, and ashamed.
One day, my sister-in-law shared a post on social media about an open position with a nonprofit organization I knew nothing about. The negative soundtrack in my mind continued: Why bother applying? You won’t get it. But there was a quieter voice whispering, It won’t hurt to try.
Taking a leap of faith, I applied. To my surprise, I made it to the second round of interviews. Once again, my palms were sweaty, my heart was pounding, and I struggled to hear the interview questions over the persistent voice in my head: You are a failure. This is a waste of your time. Yet, that still small voice persisted: It doesn’t hurt to try. Put yourself out there. What if you do get this?
As I continued to trust God and His plan for my life, the quiet voice grew louder. I laid my negative thoughts and the need to control at His feet. Not only did I get the job, but I also discovered that I actually love doing it. Here’s a little secret: the job is being the Communications Manager for Developing Workers. Yes, it’s me—the one behind the screen!
This job has brought so much more than financial security for my family; it has drawn me closer to Jesus and strengthened my walk with the Lord. I am truly blessed and thankful every day to serve God’s Kingdom by sharing the stories of Michael, Matt, and the incredible work Developing Workers is doing in the lives of ministry leaders.
I am now part of something bigger than myself. This job allows me to use my gifts, stay at home with my girls, and be involved in discipleship through MomCo (formerly MOPS). I’m flourishing as a wife, mother, friend, employee, and leader.
Last week at the Global Leadership Summit, we were challenged to love others and see them flourish. In the spirit of that love, we’d also like you to hear some of the words of encouragement we spoke over Nichole this week.
Nichole has helped me paint a picture with words.
Sometimes you just have an instant connection with someone you meet. It’s been like that for me with Nichole. She is easy to talk with, fun to brainstorm with and clearly loves Jesus. She brings a humble and creative spirit to the DW team.
Nichole has added so much value to our team as she helps us connect people to the work we do all over the world.
Thank you for supporting Nichole and all of our staff members!
