Dear DW Family,
Sometimes it’s hard to know how to share heart-wrenching news. This is one of those times. But we also covet your prayers so we wanted to share what’s happening in the Parker family.
Back in June, Michael and his wife Chris got the exciting news that their son Jeremy and daughter in-law Natalie are expecting their first child. Michael and Chris are overjoyed about becoming grandparents, and Jeremy and Natalie are thrilled about growing their family. But the joy turned to heartache when doctors discovered life threatening issues with their unborn baby.
While words cannot capture the depth of their pain, they cling to the hope found in Jesus. They know that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).
This is a picture of baby Simon, who is 21 weeks in utero. Simon has been diagnosed with Trisomy 18. According to the doctors, while he may make it to full term, his time with us here on earth will be very brief—just a few hours or days. This extra chromosome has affected Simon’s development in significant ways, but his family holds tightly to the promise that heaven is not far off for him. Simon will arrive in the arms of our Savior, where every tear will be wiped away.
As Michael said, “Our hearts are broken but we know the HOPE of heaven is not a fantasy or make believe. It is the best and greatest place and Simon will arrive before us”
We ask for your continued thoughts, prayers, and support for Jeremy, Natalie, and the entire Parker family as they walk through this difficult time. Many have asked how they can help. Jeremy and Natalie have mentioned that restaurant and Door Dash gift cards have been very helpful during this time. You can send cards of encouragement or gift cards to:
