At Developing Workers, we believe in investing deeply in the next generation of church leaders. One of those future leaders is Josh Kahindi, a young man from Kenya whose passion for ministry became clear during Michael’s visit for pastor training.

While Michael was teaching the pastors in Kenya, something unexpected happened during one of their breaks. Music filled the room as a young man at the piano (Josh) poured out his heart in praise. The Holy Spirit nudged Michael, telling him, “That man is called to ministry.” At first, Michael dismissed the thought, but the prompting came again, and this time, he knew he couldn’t ignore it.
Later, as they traveled to their next training destination, Michael found himself in the same car as Josh. Curious, Michael asked him about his future plans. Josh replied that he had gone to school to become an engineer. But something in the way he said it didn’t sit right with Michael. Sensing there was more to the story, Michael gently asked again later in the ride. This time, Josh looked Michael in the eyes and said, “I deeply want to become a pastor.”
Since that moment, Developing Workers has had the privilege of financially supporting Josh on his journey to pastoral ministry. Over the past few years, his education has not only expanded his academic knowledge but also transformed his life and ministry. Here’s what Josh has to say about what he’s learning:
“While in school, I’ve learned many things that have greatly impacted my life. Some key areas I’ve studied include Biblical Interpretation, Principles of Teaching, Children and Youth Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, and Thematic Studies of the Old and New Testaments.
– Josh
These subjects have enriched both my academic growth and my experience at church. For example, studying Biblical Interpretation has given me a deeper understanding of the Scriptures, allowing me to share more meaningful insights during Bible study sessions.
The Principles of Teaching have equipped me with effective communication techniques, particularly when engaging with children and youth. This has been especially helpful in our church programs, where I’ve been able to teach young people about their faith in enjoyable and relatable ways.
My training in pastoral ministry has also prepared me to support and guide others in our community. I now feel more confident offering help and encouragement to those in need.
These are just a few examples of the many things I’ve learned, but they’ve made a huge difference in my education and my contributions to our local church. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow in these areas and look forward to applying what I’ve learned in the future.”
Thanks to your generosity, Josh is growing in his confidence to lead and serve his community, offering hope and guidance to those in need. Together, we are equipping a future leader who is already making a lasting impact.
