Discipleship begins with intentional investment, and that’s exactly how Elijah Hernandez’s journey with Developing Workers started. Michael Parker met Elijah during college and felt God’s clear direction to invest in him for future ministry. As their mentorship deepened, Michael encouraged Elijah to join Valley View Bible Church, where he served as a pastor, leading in various ministries. Over the years, Elijah has traveled on several trips with Developing Workers, training others using our discipleship materials. Now, we are excited to welcome Elijah and his wife, Kennedi, as they step into a new role—coaching and equipping leaders both locally and globally.
Meet Elijah and Kennedi Hernandez:
Elijah and Kennedi both hold Bachelor of Arts degrees in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University, with Elijah specializing in Biblical Studies and Kennedi in Global Ministry. Elijah served at Valley View Bible Church for six and a half years in various roles, including youth ministry and as the College and Outreach Pastor. Kennedi previously served as the Outreach Director at Open Door Fellowship before joining Elijah at Valley View in 2022. Together, they led young adults and women’s ministries, as well as mission trips to Slovakia and Zambia.
Since their marriage in 2022, Elijah and Kennedi have been serving in ministry side by side, developing a shared passion for discipleship. In 2025, they felt called to join Developing Workers as a couple, helping bridge the gap between the local and global Church to end discipleship poverty. Their mission is simple but profound: to disciple one person at a time, equipping others to do the same.
In their free time, Elijah and Kennedi enjoy cooking, playing board games, snowboarding, traveling, and investing in meaningful relationships.
