For the past 35 years, Michael Parker, the founder of Developing Workers, has dedicated his life to discipleship and building relationships that make a lasting impact. His journey began at Forest Home in 1990, near the Billy Graham rock, where he made a life-changing decision to be a disciple and to make disciples. That retreat’s theme, “Life on the Edge,” challenged him to live courageously, avoid complacency, and make his life count—a commitment he has honored ever since.

Reflecting on these years, Michael shares:
“With humble adoration for my Savior, I reflect on the last 35 years of investing in discipleship and relationships, and my heart is filled with gratitude. Who knew that decades later, I would still be investing in the lives of others? The grand vision of discipleship has become more focused and intentional over the years, with a specific emphasis on pastors and leaders. It is now about empowering leaders to impact generations.”
Michael’s approach to discipleship has always been up close, personal, and takes place over time—often journeying with leaders for years, even decades. Many of these relationships started in junior high and high school ministries and have grown into partnerships with pastors and leaders answering the call to ministry.

Empowering Leaders to Impact Generations
He reflects:
“Encouragement is like a pebble dropped in the water; no one sees the pebble, they only see the ripples. It is an honor and privilege to be the steady voice and steadfast presence that uplifts and strengthens leaders to fulfill their calling.”
